BEFORE GOING BLONDE

Is becoming a gorgeous blonde something you’ve been leaning towards doing recently? These 4 tips can help you decide! Here are 4 things that you need to know before beginning the road to a fabulous new blonde color.

Your Natural Hair Color Matters

Going blonde can take some time, depending on how dark your natural hair color is. If you’re a brunette, keep in mind that it can take up to a year to achieve your desired results, depending on how light you want to go. For someone with naturally lighter hair, it may only take one or two sessions to achieve your desired blonde. During your consultation, you and your stylist will plan out your personalized transition journey.

You’ll Need To Upgrade Your Maintenance Routine

Caring for your new blonde hair is going to require a few longer showers and new additions added to your hair care routine. Immediately after your service, it is essential to wait 24-48 hours before washing your hair. There are a few things to keep in mind when washing your hair: use lukewarm water and use a color-safe shampoo to keep your color from fading too quickly. Also, using a purple shampoo will help with brassy or yellow tones.

Here at the salon, we offer a variety of color-safe and purple shampoos to help you maintain your color at home between visits. We are huge fans of the Biolage Color Last Purple Shampoo, which helps to eliminate both brassy and yellow tones. Pair that with the Biolage Color Last Shampoo and Conditioner, and you have a winning combo to keep your blonde fresh! For cool, ashy-toned blondes, the So Silver Mask packs an extra punch to keep your blonde icy.

Keeping up with your blonde will require freshening up your toner in between your blonding sessions. Typically, you will be getting a refresh every four to six weeks.

Your stylist will create a specialized maintenance schedule and regimen for you and your hair needs.

Your Hair Texture May Change

Of course, with your new color will come some changes to your hair’s texture. Transitioning to blonde may cause your hair to feel drier due to the use of lightener. For the ladies with naturally curly hair, you may lose some of your curl patterns. With that being said…

Your Hair May Need Some TLC (Tender Loving Care)

Your hair will need extra love and attention to restore the moisture and strength caused by the lightening process. We suggest using one of our hair masks to breathe some life back into those strands or our ReBond Shampoo and Conditioner to rebuild your hair bonds. Make sure to ask your stylist which product would best suit your hair needs!
